Between the blue sky above us and the infinite blackness of space lies a frontier full of enigmas that scientists have only just begun to investigate. It takes viewers on an exploration to probe the earth-space boundary zone, which is home to some of nature's most puzzling and alluring phenomena: the shimmering aurora, streaking meteors, and fleeting flashes that shoot upwards from thunderclouds, known as sprites.

Originally broadcast as an episode of a television program on the PBS series NOVA in 2013, this 54-minute documentary explores the earth-space boundary zone and explains the danger from the severe solar storms caused by our Sun.
It is an amazing and fascinating documentary with excellent visial effects and magnificent photos.

Visually appealing and informative about the upper atmosphere, which we are just beginning to explore as the technology becomes available to do so. Added bonus: some of it was filmed locally in Colorado.

As usual, PBS makes another outstanding documentary in the Nova series. This takes a look at phenomena in the upper reaches of the atmosphere, including the aurora and an electrical discharge referred to as sprites. Fascinating and informative, and professionally done.
