There's a reason that this book has a "first time in print!" label on it. I suspect it sat in a drawer collecting dust at some point. While the writing's not bad, there's not a lot here in terms of story, or anything much that advances the overarcing Roman plot. I feel like she could have covered this episdoe in a novella or a short story easily, rather than pad it out with extra pages of Kitty reacting the same way to her environment again and again and again, plus going on mythological asides. Definitely not my fave Kitty book....

This time this author actually surprised Me by making the story more interesting than previous novels in this series.
